Summer 2002, yearly MYCOREM meeting. Visit of experimental plantations in France

Within the frame­work of the Eu­ro­pean con­tract MY­COREM the Pépinières ROBIN pro­duce my­c­or­rhized plants which are in­tended to be re­planted on pol­luted sites. (nat­ural pol­lu­tion)(salt) or in­dus­trial pol­lu­tion (heavy metals).
On these ex­per­i­mental plan­ta­tions the re­covery and de­vel­op­ment of plants is mon­i­tored by the re­spec­tive sci­en­tific or­ga­ni­za­tions in the dif­ferent coun­tries as­so­ci­ated with the pro­gramme (Ukraine, Ger­many, Bel­gium, Poland, Hol­land...)

The goal of MY­COREM

The goal of MY­COREM is to demon­strate the in­terest of my­c­or­rhized plants with cer­tain se­lected stocks, in phy­torestau­ra­tion in pol­luted areas. In this pro­gramme, the two types of my­c­or­rhizae used were en­domy­c­or­rhizae and Ec­to­my­c­or­rhizae.

The first re­sults ob­tained :

  • SUILLUS lu­teus en­abled a sig­nif­i­cant in­crease in the sur­vival rate of Pinus sylvestris on soils pol­luted with heavy metals (zinc, copper, cad­mium) on a crop in Bel­gium Dr. Jan Col­paert Bel­gium).
  • SUILLUS lu­teus and HE­BE­LOMA crusulin­i­forme have im­proved the sur­vival rate of Sylvester pines on ground pol­luted by hy­dro­car­bons and zinc (CNRS Nancy (54)).
  • HE­BE­LOMA crus­tulin­i­forme has shown some in­terest for the young growth of pines and de­cid­ious trees on soil pol­luted chem­i­cally by lin­dane. Ste. Triton, Ger­many
  • LAC­CARIA bi­color R inoc­u­lated with FAGUS syl­vatica en­abled the in­tro­duc­tion of a tol­er­ance to sodium chlo­ride at sig­nif­i­cant con­cen­tra­tions. Ex­per­i­ment on plants in con­tainer (Dr. In­grid Weis­senhorn).

It seems that the se­lected stocks in­tro­duce a tol­er­ance to heavy metals and the my­c­or­rhized plants sur­vive and grow on this ground, un­like or­di­nary plants.

We ad­vise you to carry out a physic­o­chem­ical anal­ysis of your soil be­fore planting any HAUTE PER­FOR­MANCE® con­trolled my­c­or­rhized plants. From the re­sults of this anal­ysis and the de­scrip­tion of the con­di­tions of the lo­ca­tion your ground, we can use­fully ad­vise on the stock of fungi and the host species that will give you the best re­sults, on your site.
