Summer truffle (Tuber aestivum)

In order to grow fully, the summer truffle must benefit from a characteristic biotope (soils with a lumpy structure, well drained, rich in calcium and magnesium). Its emergence and its good development also depend on the symbiosis that it will establish with its host tree. If Tuber aestivum particularly appreciates to cohabit with a white oak or a holm oak, it also finds its happiness near hornbeams and hazel trees. That's why Robin Nurseries offer these different species of truffle tree plants mycorrhized with Tuber aestivum. Plants able to meet the needs and requirements of the summer truffle growing.

Depending on the age of the plant and the land chosen, you will have to wait between 6 and 7 years to harvest your first summer truffles.

Which tree to plant to harvest summer truffles ?

The summer truffle is usually found near truffle trees such as the holm oak (Quercus ilex) or the white oak (Quercus pubescens). But it is also possible to grow it on the basis of other species such as the common hornbeam (Carpinus betulus), the hazelnut tree (Corylus avellana), the rockrose or the lime tree. All these tree species respond very favorably to mycorrhization by Tuber aesitivum and will therefore produce beautiful summer truffles as long as the conditions for its cultivation are met. Namely: a calcareous soil with a pH between 7 and 8, a good sunshine and a low but regular hygrometry.
