Burgundy truffle (Tuber uncinatum)

The presence and the development of the b (Tuber uncinatum) requires a particular biotope (clay-limestone soil, shallow, permeable and slightly basic). To flourish, the Burgundy truffle also needs a host tree that can "cohabit" with it. If Tuber uncinatum is particularly happy under a pedunculate oak or a hairy oak, other species favor its appearance and growth, such as hazelnut, cedar, hornbeam, pine or even lime tree. This is why Robin Nurseries offers you about fifteen truffle tree plants mycorhized with Tuber uncinatum. Plants able to meet the requirements of the Burgundy truffle farming.

Truffle plants carefully mycorrhized to produce the Burgundy truffle

Numerous forest host species can live in symbiosis with the Burgundy truffle. In order to best adapt to the different conditions (of soil and climate), ROBIN Nurseries offers truffle plants mycorhized with Tuber uncinatum produced in our own laboratory, under the control of INRAE. Thanks to their high level of performance, these plants allow you to produce your own Burgundy truffles. We advise you to choose a tree species adapted to the climate of your region. Depending on the age of the plant and the land chosen, you will have to wait between 6 and 8 years to harvest your first Burgundy truffles.

Which tree to plant to get Burgundy truffles ?

Burgundy truffles are generally found at a depth of about 10-20 cm under truffle trees such as the pedunculate oak (Quercus pedonculata) or the Turkey oak (Quercus cerris). But other tree species can also constitute a suitable area for its development. For example, cedar, hornbeam, hazelnut, pine, beech or lime. All these species respond advantageously to mycorrhization by Tuber uncinatum and will therefore produce beautiful Burgundy truffles as long as the conditions of its culture are met. Namely: a half-shade exposure, a regular hygrometry, a well-drained clay-limestone soil with a pH between 7 and 8.

Need help ?The Burgundy truffle is not the only one that can be born from the mycorrhization of a host plant.
