A high mountain tree (over 1,100 m), the European larch is very resistant to frost, snow and wind, it requires a dry atmosphere and full light. It prefers deep soils and needs a lot of space to grow well. Tended, larches can form graceful, airy hedges, which are especially beautiful during bud break. Female flowers are purple-red. Needles: in bouquet, light green, golden yellow in autumn. The origins France medium altitude, Germany and Sudetes give very good results in lower altitude (400 to 1000 m).
