Young plant of Atlas cedar (Cedrus atlantica)

Atlas cedar (Cedrus atlantica)

The Atlas cedars are very valuable trees. They allow to reconstitute degraded forest environments, thanks to their relative hardiness and their capacity of natural dissemination. The Atlas cedar will find its best conditions of growth in the supramediterranean stage (pubescent oak) even with southern exposure or mesomediterranean northern exposure. It likes loose soils (scree and gravel) and soils developed on cracked rock. It fears the excess of clay, the asphyxiating and badly drained grounds. Before the plantation, a deep subsoiling, will allow a good start of the plants. Installation preferably in autumn.
