Stone pine (Pinus pinea)

The stone pine is quite plastic and adapts to relatively dry soils. It is indifferent to PH (between 4 and 9), but does not grow well on heavy, compact, clayey or marly soils. It prefers light sandy-loam soils, and tolerates stony and dry soils. Its growth is fast and it can be used in sandy littoral zone. It is very ornamental and aesthetic at all ages, isolated or in stands.
