The Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga douglasii) is a fast growing tree reaching in its country from 60 to 100 m high. The Douglas fir is quite demanding in water. It likes little windy situations and humid and sub-humid bio-climates. California provenances are more resistant to drought. Douglas fir prefers light, siliceous, cool, deep and loose soils, even if they are stony.
