Salzmann Pine (Pinus laricio Salzmann)

Salzmann pine is the only indigenous continental black pine in France. It can be recognized by its spread out and airy top (whereas the black pine's top is pyramidal and dense), its light green-yellow color and its scaly bark. It is mainly found in the south of the Massif Central and in the Pyrenees between 100 and 1,000 m altitude.
