This basswood truffle plant is obtained after controlled and certified mycorrhization of a basswood tree (Tilia cordata) with Burgundy truffle spores (Tuber uncinatum). The tree obtained is ready to be planted in your truffle field. It will produce its first truffles within 6 to 7 years.
In order to meet your expectations, our basswood truffle plants, mycorhized with the Burgundy truffle, are available in 4 sizes of anti-chignon® cups:
- in cup R430 (with a volume of 0.43 liters)
- in cup R600 (volume of 0.6 liters)
- in cup R1.5L (volume of 1.5 liters)
- in cup R3L (volume of 3 liters)
The basswood truffle capacity
Reputed for the antispasmodic, calming, sudorific and diuretic virtues of its flowers, the basswood tree is nonetheless a host forest species that can live in symbiosis with the Burgundy truffle. The small-leaved basswood tree (Tilia cordata) combines several characteristics that make it a very good truffle producer: It is not very sensitive to drought and is very resistant to winter frost. It is equally at home on the plains and in the mountains (up to 1400 m). Its moderate growth rate reduces the frequency of pruning, which it tolerates very well. Not very demanding in terms of soil, it likes the sun but is equally at ease in semi-shaded areas.
About the Burgundy truffle (Tuber uncinatum)
This is likely the most common edible truffle variety in Europe. This autumn truffle is distinguished by its black exterior (peridium). Inside, the flesh is dark brown. And it is distinguished by its very present white veins. The Burgundy truffle is an edible mushroom prized for its delicate flavors. As its vernacular name suggests, the Burgundy truffle was historically found mainly in east-central France. While it has since spread very widely well beyond this region, in France, Burgundy, Champagne, and Lorraine and Alsace remain the regions favored by Tuber uncinatum.
